NH LIONS YOUTH SERVICES “HEADS, HANDS AND FEET “ CHALLENGE To top this number: 7,536 The total number of hats, mittens, scarves and socks collected by Lion’s Clubs of NH MD 44 last year. We want your club to help solve the problem with those who need of warm clothing. November 1,2011 thru January 15,2012 Partnering with Warmth from the Millyard The Warmth from the Millyard Project is a collaborative initiative coordinated by the UNH and UNH Manchester Leadership program. The mission of Warmth from the Millyard project is to mobilize NH communities in clothing drives and other projects to demonstrate our collective power to address the needs of our neighbors through a collaborate partnership with the Lions. The articles are to be donated to local organizations of your choice and to agencies throughout NH. 1. Appoint a chairman in your club. 2. Collect new items: Kids and adult hats, scarves, mittens, and socks. (The items do not have to be hand made. ) This year we will accept new or used outerwear such as jackets, fleece tops and ski pants that are clean and in good condition. We will accept blankets. 3. Contact the local school nurse, guidance counselor, soup kitchen, shelter or charitable organizations in your community to see what is needed and where the items should go. You choose where they should go based on the needs of that organization. 4. Ask your friends who knit or contact a local nursing home and ask people to knit. Ask your local discount stores for these items or purchase them on sale. 5. Ask if you can put a collection box at your local school, bank or other public place. Put your Lion’s Club Information where everyone can see who is doing the collecting. 6.
