Dear Fellow Lions,

Welcome to our second combined program guide and annual report. The hope is that the first issue helped you and your club to make informed decisions, plan for future projects and had a place to seek information or help on youth oriented issues.

The Board of Directors has been hard at work to improve our services to the Lions and youth of New Hampshire and will continue to strive to make changes and improvements to further develop our mission.

This past Lionistic year has brought many changes, one of which you hold in our hand. Other items are:
  1. Changed our “doing business as” name to Lions Youth Services
  2. Board members bought blue polo shirts with an embroidered logo for use in public, events, meetings, etc.
  3. Started a patch program. The first $250 receives a logo banner patch, subsequent donations of $250 receive a balloon banner patch.
  4. All board members have an informational notebook on LYS
  5. Held our first annual retreat
  6. Became a member of the Center of NH Non-profits and have taken courses
  7. Established a NH Leo of the Year Award
  8. Started an endowment with the help of the Brookline Lions Club
  9. Established an organizational redo-making us more umbrella type
  10. Extended Patriotism essay contest to 3 clubs in District 44N
  11. New Leo club in District 44H.-Allenstown/Pembroke Leo Club
  12. Promoted LYS at meetings as well as our current project/s

Continuing activities:

  1. Bingo being run by the Brookline Lions Club. LYS receives a %.
  2. Liberty Day booklets being given out to schools, home schoolers
  3. Lions Quest workshops

Activities that need help:

  1. Bob Turner Golf Tournament-we need volunteers to help run this
  2. Lions Quest-Lions who would like to come on the committee
  3. Inkjet and Shaw’s receipt collection

Please contact a board member if you can help with these activities.

Last year, it was announced that the LYS board would like to start an endowment. Hearing no opposition at the annual meeting, LYS has proceeded cautiously in setting up an account for this purpose. If you know of any grants a youth oriented foundation can apply for to add to this fund, please let us know.

The Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who has helped us previously and look forward to your help in the future, through supporting our fundraisers and programs, donations, becoming a board member or attending meetings. Without this support, it would be tough indeed, to carry on the work to help Lions and youth. Every Lion in New Hampshire is a member of Lions Youth Services and if you would like more information on what the board does or need guidance on a youth project, please contact any member of the board listed in the back of the program guide.

The youth of New Hampshire are our future. Help them to be the best they can be. Join Lions Youth Services in making programs available, making educators aware of Lions Quest, sponsoring a Leo Club, sponsoring the Peace Poster Contest in your area, hosting a Liberty Day in your school, or having your local school join the Patriotism essay contest.

Get involved.

Yours’ in Lionism,

President Linda Ribolini
